The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) has alerted residents of several estates along Outer Ring Road to a significant interruption in their water supply. The disruption, caused by the washing away of a water supply pipeline at the Ngong river crossing, stems from the ongoing flooding in the city.
Eng. Nahason Muguna, Managing Director of NCWSC, expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to customers due to the unforeseen incident. According to Muguna, the adverse weather conditions led to the collapse of the pipeline infrastructure, necessitating urgent attention from the water utility company.
In response to the crisis, NCWSC has deployed its team of engineers to the site for immediate repairs. Temporary measures are being implemented to restore water supply, albeit at reduced pressure, by redirecting water from the Mombasa Road pipeline to the affected estates. However, Muguna emphasized that these interim solutions may result in lower-than-usual water pressure for residents.
The affected areas include Fedha 1 Estate, Tumaini Estate, Kware Road Area, Tassia, Nyayo Embakasi Estate, Avenue Park 1&2 Estates, Kwa Ndege, Lower Plot 10, Lexo, and their surrounding neighborhoods. Residents of these estates are advised to use the available water sparingly until a permanent solution is implemented.
NCWSC reassures customers that efforts are underway to reinstate the Ngong River pipeline crossing at Kware once the weather conditions improve. This reinstatement will ensure a reliable and uninterrupted water supply to the affected areas.
