Agilitee, Africa’s top producer of electric vehicles, has announced entry into Nigeria through a deal with We Sync Autos Limited a Lagos-based automotive company.
This partnership, which aims to promote innovation, sustainability, and regional economic growth, is a turning point for the automobile sector on the continent.
Finalized on the last day of January, the agreement resulted in the launch of Agilitee Nigeria, an initiative that would lead the country’s implementation of solar systems, electric vehicles, and infrastructure.
This development demonstrates Agilitee’s commitment to growing its presence throughout Africa and comes after the company’s recent transaction with Innobuild in Malawi.
CEO and Founder Dr. Mandla Lamba of Agilitee, expressed excitement about entering the Nigerian market after three years of preparation.
“Our offering will make the lives of many Nigerians easy, bringing affordable means of mobility and sustainable, affordable electricity,” Lamba stated, emphasizing Agilitee’s dedication to contributing to a carbon-free and prosperous society.
Agilitee’s entry into Nigeria aligns with the government’s goal of having 30 percent of all vehicles on Nigerian roads electric by 2025.
The company, in collaboration with its Nigerian partners, aims to roll out at least 20,000 electric two and three-wheelers and 1,000 four-wheelers this year, thereby significantly advancing the adoption of electric vehicles in the country.
“The entry of Agilitee into Nigeria signifies a significant step towards promoting environmental sustainability and reducing carbon emissions in the region,” said Fredrick Muteti, Agilitee’s Executive Director.
The partnership between Agilitee and We Sync Autos Limited is expected to bring forth a range of cutting-edge electric vehicles tailored for the Nigerian market.
Leveraging We Sync Autos Limited’s local knowledge and market insights, combined with Agilitee’s technological prowess, the collaboration aims to address urban mobility challenges and environmental concerns while stimulating job creation and fostering local talent development.
Elufidiya Demola of We Sync Autos Limited echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the strategic alliance’s potential to drive innovation and sustainability within Nigeria’s automotive sector.
“This collaboration not only positions Nigeria and Africa as players in the sustainable transportation market but also signifies a commitment to advancing technology and environmental consciousness within the continent,” Demola stated.
Adewale Adeyemi, also from We Sync Autos Limited, underscored the partnership’s contribution to the overall growth of the automotive sector in Nigeria and beyond.
“The Agilitee and We Sync Autos Limited partnership stands as a promising initiative that aligns with the evolving global automotive landscape, positioning Nigeria and Africa as key players in the sustainable mobility revolution,” Adeyemi said.
The collaboration between Agilitee and We Sync Autos Limited represents a transformative moment for Nigeria’s automotive industry, promising to usher in a new era of sustainable transportation and economic prosperity. As Agilitee continues its expansion across Africa, the company remains committed to driving positive change and shaping a greener, more sustainable future for the continent.
