Hundreds of youths gathered in Busia town, demanding the immediate resignation of former Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong from his role as NEPAD chair.
President Ruto appointed Ojaamong as Chairperson of the NEPAD/APRM Kenya Governing Council in a gazette notice dated June 14.
The demonstrators accused Ojaamong of committing fraud during his tenure as governor, including an alleged Ksh 8 million graft case highlighted by the EACC.
“Ruto must sack him immediately; he is corrupt and unfit for public office,” the residents declared. “He stole Ksh 8 million in public funds. For Ruto to redeem his government, he must sack Ojaamong. You cannot reward a thief.”
The protestors emphasized that Ojaamong’s past actions disqualify him from holding any public office, urging President Ruto to take swift action to maintain the integrity of his administration.
